Using Study Island From Home

This is a web based state assesment program that students can access on any computer that has internet access.  Open your web browser you use to access the internet (Internet Explorer, FireFox, Chrome, ETC...).  In the URL block ( address block ) type in www.studyisland.com to get the log in page for the program.

Tip: when you get the log in page you can create a desktop shortcut by right clicking on the ICON in the address of the URL Block, while holding in the right button of mouse drag the cusor to a blank spot on your desktop then release the right button, from that menu choose create shortcut here.  Also you could jsut add to Favorites.

The sudents username is first intial of firstname and full last name with rome added to it. example John Doe username would be jdoerome.  In most cases that will work however if there is a Jane Doe we can't have another person with jdoerome, so in cases like that they may have second letter of first name added example Jane would use jadoerome.  They may even have to use third letter depending on how many people have that combination of letters, such as there may be a Jayden Doe.

Password is assigned by the students ID number.  The last 5 numbers of their student ID is their password.  Example if student ID is 123456789 password would be 56789.

If you have any problems logging into Study Island feel free to email your building SYSOP to have information emailed back to you, include the students full name and grade.  Your SYSOP at this time is redmunds@romecsd.org. 

Parents

There are practice assesments set up for the students by grade level.  Some of the Staley Staff Members took the time to build a test prep module for your child to practice.  These questions all come from the programs database, which is set in accordance with the New York State standards.

When your child logs into the program they should look for the grade level Math Test Prep:

MATH 5th GRADE TEST PREP or MATH 6th GRADE TEST PREP.

Study Island is a web based assesment program geared to better prepare your student for their state assesment tests.  The program is designed specifically for each state's standards.  The academtic content is set to be fun and engaging.
