Physical Education is a vital part of a student's educational experience. Physical education is not the recreation class that we as adults experienced as children. Physical education today is teaching students about the effects of exercise and how it correlates into a healthy lifestyle. Students not only learn about various activities but they learn about how these activities influences their health both physically, mentally and emotionally. The physical education schedule must be developed in accordance with a variety of factors. The age of the individual is a very crucial consideration when chalking out such a schedule. The physical educator must be responsible enough to help the learner develop the ability to choose wisely when it comes to making decisions about physical activity be it in the present or in the future. The objectives of physical education include getting the individual to achieve his or her highest competency in movement skills. Individual and team sports, dance, aquatics, gymnastics, and fitness activities designed to develop beginning and intermediate skills are all part of physical education curriculum. We have a comprehensive physical education programs. One advantage of such programs is that it instills at a very young age the need for exercise and fitness in life. Young children such as pre-schoolers and first graders can be made to participate in healthy outdoor activities with an element of fun added to the schedule. This makes the experience interesting for both the students and the teacher. Our physical eduaction teachers are qualified and trained in this field. The physical education teacher is also required to have basic knowledge of diet and nutrition so he or she can help students structure a nutritious food chart to supplement their physical training. A good training program and substantial diet can go a long way in ensuring fitness and health for many years to come.
And there are several studies, including one from Health experts believe that students need P.E. in school to gain an understanding of the importance of getting frequent exercise. They also learn exercises they enjoy enough to continue after graduation. Otherwise, they might become one of the 300,000 deaths a year in the United States due to inactivity and poor diet . Physical education programs are aimed at helping students live healthier lives. The Rome City School District is committed in providing physical education designed to offer students activities like running on treadmills, scaling the climbing wall, and using weight machines instead of team sports that might be difficult for some students. Many students enjoy this type of workout because it provides more opportunities with different types of exercises providing the foundation for a healthy life style. Other students say they are less bored than they were playing dodge ball or running endless laps. Its hard to argue with the facts "proper nutrition and exercise has a direct correlation in increasd mental awarness" The idea is for students to be active and to see that physical activity can be fun, as well as helpful in preventing obesity and bad health later in life. |
