1. Attendance, behavior, and language: in accordance with the RFA Code of Conduct. Basically, be respectful and kind to everyone in class and their belongings.

2. Participation: we will often break into groups, or partners. Participation in activities and discussions are necessary and will be part of the grade.  

3. Preparation: bring all materials everyday

4. Homework: Homework must be neat and complete, incomplete or sloppy homework will be returned to the student without being graded.

5. Portfolio : a compilation of writing to be completed by the first Friday in June and counts as the final exam.

• Pens (blue or black only) and pencils
• Highlighter
• Stenographer's notebook (small one with spiral on top and line down center)
• Dictionary
• Color pencils
• One box of tissues

You should have a pen or pencil, highlighter, your notebook and color pencils with you every day for class. There may be room for you to leave them in the class if you prefer. You should always have a novel with you to read for SSR

Students are responsible for their own work when absent. Late work will be accepted for certain assignments only, and there must be a good reason why the assignment was not completed. I forgot may only be used once. Late work will be accepted if the above conditions are met for three days after the due date. After this, a zero will be recorded. Portfolio assignments will be accepted late, but will receive a portfolio grade only and will not be recorded for the marking period unless the above applies.

In order to make it easier to submit typewritten assignments I have set up an e-mail for students to submit questions or assignments. This does not supersede the due date, and actually benefits both of us because they are time and date stamped. Simply attach your assignment to an e-mail and send it to brebrockway@gmail.com.

Students need their own e-mail addresses

Students will need to have their own (or access to a parent's) e-mail address. I may send assignments, class notes, or return papers to this e-mail address. If possible a gmail account is best as I use google docs for many of our tests, quizzes and papers.
