RAEThe Rome Alliance for Education held a press conference on November 5, 2018, to announce they have secured the third year of funding from the American Federation of Teachers.

With funding secured, Rome Community Schools will now be embedded into its third school- Gansevoort Elementary!
The Community Schools initiative started last year with Bellamy as it's pilot school, and after great success has moved into Staley and Gansevoort. The goal is to make every Rome City School a "Community School".

Community Schools works hand in hand with community partners to give families and students direct access to a wide variety of valuable resources that go beyond the classroom.

Mayor Jackie Izzo, Superintendent Peter Blake,  RTA President Rob Wood, Executive Director of the Rome Alliance for Education Melissa Roys, Rome Alliance for Education President Joe Eurto, and Gansevoort Principal Wendy Waters were among the speakers at the press conference. Much excitement was expressed regarding the success and growth of the Community Schools initiative.

Also present was Director of Counseling Amanda Jones, who has been instrumental in getting this initiative into our schools.

Current site coordinators include
Alyssa Whitaker, Selden Przelomiec and Sara Barton for the R4K program. Stephanie Dietz will be coming on board as a Program Director and overseeing the needs of Gansevoort.
