thank you

The Rome Student Activities group from the MVCC Rome Campus have donated $1,000 worth of toys to the Rome Alliance for Education Community Schools.

After listening to a presentation about the Community Schools Initiative by Rome Alliance for Education Executive Director Melissa Roys, the Rome Students Activities Group was thrilled to be able to support their community. MVCC students Arica Rudd and Samantha Knecht volunteered their time to do the shopping for the donation. The toys include favorites for all ages. “I was delighted to see the enthusiasm and commitment to the project from the members of Rome Student Activities,” added Sheryl Williams, Assistant for Student Engagement and Activities for MVCC.

Rome Community Schools would like to thank MVCC for their generous donation to our Community Elves project. Community Elves was developed this year as a program of Rome Alliance for Education. Along with joining Operation Sunshine, Rome Community Schools Community Elves are expected to help over 100 families during this holiday season. In addition, the Rome Community Schools Program will be opening The Giving Tree Pantry for families to receive food. "We can do nothing without our community's support, and MVCC certainly has stepped up to the plate! We are so thankful for this contribution and I'm sure the kids will be also when they see these under their trees," said Melissa Roys. Families were identified by registering through the Operation Sunshine website, the Observer Dispatch and also by school staff.
