Rhapsody Show Choir Performs at Schools
Posted on 01/16/2019

Members of the Rome Free Academy show choir Rhapsody performed for students at John E. Joy Elementary School today. Rhapsody performed at other schools throughout the district as it gears up for Friday’s Show Choir Festival at RFA.

Rhapsody will be performing mash-ups: combinations of songs with similar themes. “I love the variety of styles, genres, and time periods we are able to pull together,” said Jake Meiss (music arranger and choreographer). This year’s set will include music recorded by Queen, Michael Jackson, the Go-Gos, Beyonce, the Darkness, and also music from several musicals: Hairspray, Dreamgirls, The Greatest Showman, and Mary Poppins.

On Friday, January 19th, Rome Free Academy will host the seventh annual Central New York Show Choir Festival. Groups from RFA, Waterville, Whitesboro, Westmoreland, New Hartford, Holland Patent, and Frankfort-Schuyler will be performing. The show begins at 7:30 pm and tickets are $8 in advance or $9 at the door. Tickets can be purchased in advance from members of any of the performing groups or at Jervis Public Library in Rome.
