Rome Budget news

The Rome City School District’s 2025–2026 budget proposal was approved by voters on May 20, 2025, with a vote of 434 to 257—representing a 63% approval rate. On behalf of our entire school community, thank you to everyone who took the time to vote and show your support for our students, staff, and schools.

We’re also pleased to report that both additional propositions received strong voter support. The proposal to purchase a new school bus passed with a vote of 513 to 180 (74%), and the establishment of a 2025 Capital Reserve Fund was approved by a margin of 492 to 196 (72%).

In the Board of Education election, Johnny “Jonathan” Roland was elected to a three-year term with 372 votes. Felicia James-Williams received 251 votes. In addition, 9 ballots included write-in votes representing 7 different individuals. We congratulate both Jonathan and Felicia for stepping forward to serve and for their commitment to our community.

These results will be made official during tonight’s regular Board of Education meeting.
