The Rome City School District was honored to welcome Dr. Betty A. Rosa, New York State Commissioner of Education, for a special visit to Rome Free Academy today, Oct. 29.
Commissioner Rosa spent the day engaging and interacting with students and staff, including individual visits to Algebra, Biology, Electronics, ENL, and English classes to participate in lessons and see innovative student projects in action.
She also joined student representatives from each grade level for a roundtable session, discussing topics such as graduation measures, equity, and college and career opportunities, and closing with a Q&A session. The day concluded with a Town Hall, which welcomed educational leaders and elected officials from across the region.
Commissioner Rosa was also joined by New York State Board of Regents member Patrick Mannion, Senator Joseph A. Griffo, Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon, Madison-Oneida BOCES District Superintendent Scott Budelmann, the RCSD Board of Education, and other local leaders, and we thank them for their visit and participation as we celebrated Rome Pride!
