Founded in 1983, D.A.R.E. is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons that provides children with the skills they need to be safe, healthy, and responsible in leading drug-free lives.
Thanks to Officer Gebo of the Rome Police Department, our fifth graders at John Joy have learned how to resist peer pressure and live productive drug and violence-free lives. To celebrate their completion of the D.A.R.E. program, the class invited family and friends to a special ceremony at the school.
Upon completion of the program, students were asked to write essays sharing what they had learned from D.A.R.E. Among all the outstanding essays, four winners were selected to be read at the ceremony by Olivia Cahill, Rylie Poore, Samantha Breault, Catalaya Ayala.
Congratulations to every one of our students on this achievement!
