Kindergarten registration for the 2026-2027 school year will take place from Monday, March 2nd to Friday, March 6th, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the child’s home school. If you have questions about which school your child will attend, please call the District Registrar’s Office at 315-338-6569.
There will be an evening session on Wednesday, March 4th, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the District Office located at 266 W Dominick St., Rome, NY. Please use the North George St. entrance.
If your child is currently attending the Rome City School District Pre-K program at Clough, or MVCAA-Rome Head Start, please submit two new proofs of residency with the Intent to Return registration form provided by your child’s teacher.
Please note that any child who will be 6 years old on or before December 1, 2026, must be registered for school and will be placed in the appropriate grade level.
The following documents must be provided at the time of registration:
Proof of age (birth certificate, baptismal certificate, passport, or proper transfer papers) Your child must be 5 on or before December 1, 2026 to register for kindergarten
Record of current immunization
2 proof of residency documents (see chart below)
Custody papers if the child is not residing with both parents. If the child will be residing with the non-custodial parent, then a parent affidavit will need to be filled out, notarized, and submitted with the registration.
