The Rome City School District (CSD) continues its Rome is Home: Progress in Action series by highlighting recent efforts under Pillar 4 of its Strategic Plan, Community-Driven Learning and Partnerships for Lifelong Success, and the district’s ongoing commitment to strengthening communication, transparency, and partnerships with families and the broader community.

The district believes that strong schools are built through strong relationships. Over the past two years, Rome CSD has focused on creating additional opportunities for families and community members to access information, engage with district leaders, and participate in conversations that support student success.

In 2025, the district established the Rome Parent Partnership Council (RPPC) to strengthen collaboration between families and the school district. The council provides opportunities for communication, collaboration, and shared learning while supporting the district’s Strategic Plan goal of building stronger community partnerships.

“As with any new initiative, the first year of the RPPC provided opportunities to learn, listen, and grow,” said Rome CSD Superintendent of Schools, Nerlande Anselme. “We value the feedback received from families and will continue refining the structure of the council so that it continues to support meaningful partnership and collaboration.”

The district has also expanded opportunities for community engagement through the establishment of community budget forums beginning in the 2024–2025 school year. These forums provide residents with opportunities to better understand the annual budget process, ask questions, and learn more about the decisions that impact educational opportunities for students.

To further improve communication and accessibility, the district established communication pathways to help families, staff, and community members better understand who to contact with questions or concerns. The district also redesigned its website to make information easier to access and navigate.

Future website improvements will continue based on community feedback, including updates to school-specific pages and athletics information.

Communication and trust are built over time through listening, transparency, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Our families and community members are important partners in the success of our students, and we are committed to continuing to strengthen those relationships.
