  Bellamy Groundhog Day 2023

In Mrs. Muttillo’s Kindergarten classroom at Bellamy, students have been working super hard to prepare for their Groundhog’s Day classroom celebration! “We started our groundhog studies by learning some basic facts about groundhogs, including their basic dietary needs and about their habitats,” said Muttillo. The students have also been learning about animals that hibernate for the winter. They made a prediction chart and learned that predictions are guesses that people make about different things. The kiddos are using our prediction chart to discuss numbers in math, including greater than and less than. They are also learning beginning adding and subtraction. “We learned the /sh/ digraph in ELA, created shadow puppets for dramatic play and began a discussion about shadows and what is needed to create a shadow. We practiced creating shadows today using a spotlight from our science kit, a darker classroom, our groundhog puppets and ourselves of course,” said Muttillo. They completed shadow worksheets, wore special crowns that we made, enjoyed a special snack and will celebrate with a parade to end our festivities later today!
