Amanda Jones

Amanda Jones comes to the Rome City School District with over 15 years of experience in the field of education. She has worked as a School Counselor, classroom teacher and, most recently, a Transition Specialist for the Regional Special Education Technical Assistance and Support Center. Ms. Jones received undergraduate degrees in Elementary Education and Psychology from Elmira College, a Master’s degree in Counseling Education and Human Services from Canisius College and a certificate of advanced study in School and Building Leadership from SUNY Cortland. She is passionate about helping students develop self-determination skills, as well as work and college readiness skills through effective transition planning. Ms. Jones also serves as an Academic Advisor at the Rome campus of Mohawk Valley Community College. She volunteers her time as a member of the Board of Directors for Utica Dollars for Scholars and as a member of the Advisory Board for Grady’s Way – an initiative of Catholic Charities, which will serve as a residential emergency shelter for young men in our community.
