Superintendent Search
The Board of Education of the Rome City School District is accepting applications for the position of Superintendent of Schools. The search will be conducted over the next several months.
The Board will be assisted in the selection process by Mr. Scott A. Budelmann, District Superintendent & CEO of the Madison-Oneida BOCES. All application materials must be sent to Mr. Budelmann for initial review. The Board will make all search, selection and appointment decisions. Applicants are prohibited from contacting the Rome City School District Board of Education or any of its members.
Stakeholder Involvement
The Board of Education of the Rome City School District is very interested in the input of its stakeholders, but the Board will make all search, selection and appointment decisions for the next Superintendent of Schools.
A. Employee Meetings: At the beginning of the search process, the Search Consultant scheduled seven employee meetings to provide information and answer questions about the search process and the Board’s efforts to select its next Superintendent of Schools.
B. ThoughtExchange Opportunity: Between December 1st and December 15th, stakeholders who are students, parents/guardians, employees, local business persons or community members, are encouraged to provide the Board with input through a Link to ThoughtExchange Here.
C. Stakeholder Advisory Committees: Through its Search Consultant, the Board has convened five Stakeholder Advisory Committees. The Stakeholder Advisory Committees will 1) Meet with the Search Consultant to discuss the characteristics they most would like to see in the next Superintendent of Schools and 2) Conduct an Advisory Interview of the finalist(s) as determined by the Board. The interviews will be advisory in nature. The Rome City School District Board of Education will make all search, selection and appointment decisions for the next Superintendent of Schools. The Stakeholder Advisory Committees are as follows:
Administrator & Non-Union Stakeholder Advisory Committee: Consisting of five RCSD employees selected by the President of the Administrators’ Union and five RCSD employees who are not in a bargaining unit.
Teacher Stakeholder Advisory Committee: Consisting of ten RCSD employees selected by the Teachers’ Association President.
Non-Instructional Employee Stakeholder Advisory Committee: Consisting of up to ten RCSD employees selected by the CSEA, UPSEU and SEIU unit leaders.
Student Stakeholder Advisory Committee: Consisting of up to ten RFA High School Students selected by the RCSD Board of Education.
Parent/Guardian & Community Stakeholder Advisory Committee: Consisting of up to ten individuals selected by the RCSD Board of Education.
