How long have you worked in the RCSD?
A remarkable 42 years. Roxanne’s journey with RCSD began as a MOBOCES employee, where she served for 36 years. Upon her retirement, she decided that her passion for helping families navigate the enrollment process still needed to be finished. She joined Rome as a dedicated employee and has made a difference for six years.

What do you like most about your job?
What I like most is the opportunity to assist families facing difficulties meeting the district’s enrollment requirements. Life can throw obstacles in our path, and I’m here to help families overcome these challenges. I take the time to engage with families, ensuring they are connected to the necessary resources for a smooth transition into the school district.

What inspires you?
I was assisting families facing challenges in meeting the district’s enrollment requirements. Being able to make a difference and leave families feeling happier and more supported is what keeps me going. I will explore various approaches to assist families.

What is a fun fact about you?
I am a skilled seamstress and love to design something in my head and make it a reality. I also have a photographic memory.

“Roxanne Whipple serves as the Registrar for the Rome City School District. She is responsible for completing registration and enrollment for the school district of more than 5,000 students, which is no small feat, especially since she only works part-time for the district! Roxanne follows the Board of Education policies related to residency. She goes above and beyond, talking with families to ensure they are connected to the appropriate resources they may need for their children to successfully transition into the school district. She puts in extra hours, connects with community resources to help families obtain the required documentation for enrollment, and genuinely cares about her work and the people that her work impacts. Especially this time of year, Roxanne is the most deserving person for the Wednesday Worker of the Week,” Amanda Jones, Director of Counseling Services.
