Wednesday Worker of the Week is Laurie Jones, Second Grade Team Teacher at Gansevoort Elementary
How long have you worked in the RCSD?
This is my 11th year in Rome, all of which have been at Gansevoort! I have taught reading, first grade, kindergarten, and now second grade.
What do you like most about your job?
I love team teaching! It gives me the opportunity to give attention to more than just our student’s academic needs. I love to hear their stories every morning and see their confidence build socially and academically.
What inspires you?
Collaborating with my colleagues inspires me, they are the best! Listening to our students collaborate, to figure out a project or help each other fills me with joy. Watching a student turn the corner in their learning is the best feeling for me!
What is a fun fact about you?
I can play four different instruments.
