Cyndi Sirni

Cynthia Dite Sirni, ELA Supported Learning Teacher at RFA

How long have you worked in the RCSD?

30 years!

What do you like most about your job?

Definitely the kids. They make me laugh. They make me cry. Sometimes, they make me crazy, but they always make me smile. I know this is a vocation that changes lives. My favorite place to be is sitting at a table and talking with them.

What inspires you?

I’m a person of faith. I believe God puts you where he wants you to be. I was meant to spend my days with my students. Some days, the kids will tell me I am the Mother of Dragons. Other days, I’m the annoying voice in their heads, but day in and day out, I am inspired by the kids I teach.

What is a fun fact about you?

I’ve written seven books. The last one, Romeo and Juliet: A Poem is dedicated to ALL the students of Rome Free Academy, past and present, as well as my English department colleagues. I wrote it when I was in 9th grade myself.

Another fun fact is that I use stories about my father, Jerry Dite, in most of my lessons. The kids think it’s hysterical that he says, “The Price Choppers” and “The Facebooks” and that he met Jackie Robinson. I’m proud to share that with them.
