Mackenzie Welter

Coach Welter is going into her 8th year this season at RFA. She played field hockey for RFA and graduated in 2008. She went on to play D1 at the University of Vermont, graduating in 2012. After graduation she returned back to the Rome area and became the assistant field hockey coach at Hamilton College for 4 years. In 2016, Mackenzie came back to the Rome City School District to teach and coach. She have so much passion and pride for the orange and black, and couldn't be more proud of where this program is going!

In her coaching time since 2016: 70-28-2; in 2021: 14-3 overall, 12-0 TVL; Sectionals: lost in semi's 2-1 (OT). In 2021 ,RFA went 12-0 in the TVL, and finished 14-3 overall with a sectional semi-final loss 2-1 (OT).

Coach Welter stated, "The majority of our 2021 starting lineup is returning, after losing 5 seniors to graduation. The core of our returners has been playing together since 8th grade. The skill of this group is unlike any other because they know how to find each other on the field. We are anticipating some younger players to join the Varsity level and expect to see a lot of growth from them as they earn playing time this season. If we come into preseason prepared, put in the work, and take nothing for granted, we have high expectations for this team with the end goal of winning sectionals."
