Mary Munney-Griffiths - Staff Spotlight for 11.16.22

“Mary is the heart and soul of our Athletic department. She helps keep the coaches in order and is always on top of the practice and game schedules. She is always on the phone with officials, transportation and AD's making sure things run smoothly. Where I saw her dedication was with the NYS Scholar Athlete Award, where she goes through every Varsity team's roster and checks the grades.  She said it is her favorite part of her job and loves doing it,” said Carl Manganaro who nominated Mary.

Mary Munney-Griffiths - Staff Spotlight for 11.16.22
Senior Typist in the Athletic Department

How long have you worked in the RCSD? 21 years. I started at Staley as the Secretary to the Assistant Principal. Library Media Secretary at RFA. Also, worked in the Attendance office at RFA. At John Joy I was Secretary to the Principal. Now I am Secretary to the Director of Athletics. What a long strange trip it’s been, but what a ride! It’s been great.

What do you like most about your job?

Watching everyone come together and/or fall into place. From the beginning to the end, it may get crazy in the middle, but when it’s done and the Athletes are where they need to be, it’s quite satisfying. There are many people involved in accomplishing this. Everyone works as a team for the Athletes.

What inspires you?

My daughters. They are amazing. Amanda lives in Albany with her husband and my granddaughter. Ayla lives in my heart. They both make me always want to be the very best that I can be.

What is a fun fact about you?

My other vehicle is a purple 750 Honda Shadow motorcycle. Also, two years ago I was completely bald due to Chemotherapy. I am now cancer free (knocking on wood) and finally after decades… know my true hair color.
